Apple is slated to launch its highly anticipated iPhone 17 lineup later this year, potentially in September, alongside the new Apple Watch Series 10. This time around, the company is determined to offer a wide range of design variations compared to the current models, which will allow the lineup to bring back some lost sales in different regions, including China. New mockups of the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Air, and iPhone 17 show critical design details of the devices, and units are based on the company’s “internal documentation.”
iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Air mockups show what users should be looking forward to later this year
The mockups of the iPhone 17 lineup were shared by the YouTube channel iDeviceHelp on Friday, claiming that they are based on “internal documentation.” The video was made in collaboration with Majin Bu, who shared the same design last month. As mentioned, the company plans to radically redesign the iPhone 17 Pro and introduce a new iPhone 17 Air model, which will also be in line with the same design language. However, the standard iPhone 17 model will look more or less similar to the current iPhone 16.

As can be seen in the video embedded below, Apple plans to redesign the iPhone 17 Pro significantly with a giant camera bar on the back of the device. The camera bar will stretch across the entire top portion of the device, housing the camera sensors, LED flash, LiDAR scanner, and microphone. The camera bar will potentially be black in color, irrespective of the color of the device, which will give the device a dual-tone look. It is safe to presume that the squared-off camera bump will be gone.
The mockups also show the iPhone 17 Air, featuring the same camera bar but quite smaller in size. This is because the ultra-thin iPhone is expected to launch with a single-lens camera instead of a dual or triple-lens solution. We believe that the single-lens camera will be pretty much similar to the one on the iPhone 16e, but we will wait for the final word before drawing conclusions. The camera bar will also house an LED flash and a microphone. The button placement will be the same as the iPhone 16 lineup, and its size will be comparable to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
It was previously believed that the iPhone 17 Air will replace the ‘Plus’ model in the lineup, and if the news has any heft to it, it makes sense for the device to have a bigger display. The device is also speculated to be as thin as 5.5mm at its thinnest point, making it the thinnest iPhone Apple has made to date. The internals of the device will be on par with the iPhone 16 and not the ‘Pro’ models, and it remains to be seen who its target audience would be.
Lastly, we can also see the mockups of the standard iPhone 17, which appears to be very similar to the iPhone 16. It will be the only model in the lineup not to house a camera bar, which could be good or bad for users, depending on which design they prefer. This will also allow Apple to create a wider gap between the iPhone’s standard and the ‘Pro’ models.
Analyst Jeff Pu recently reported that Apple could be looking to ditch titanium in favor of aluminum frames on the iPhone 17 lineup, except for the iPhone 17 Air, which will retain a titanium finish. We are still months away from launch, and new design details could emerge as we move closer, so be sure to stick around. Do you think Apple’s new camera bar will make users jump to the latest models?
