The Nintendo Switch 2 price tag will be officially revealed during the upcoming Nintendo Direct conference on April 2.

However, most analysts believe the console will cost around $399 for US customers, which is around £320 in the UK.

Of course, these predictions don’t take into account political developments, such as the introduction of tariffs between the US and China.

As pointed out by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, tariffs introduced by the Trump administration could have an impact on the cost of importing products like smartphones, video game consoles and laptops.

With many of the manufacturing duties taking place in China, there’s a chance these items could be hit with a minimum 20% tariff when being imported into the US.

Ahmad’s tweet – which can be seen below – also mentions how tariffs on Mexico could affect the price of physical discs. While some tariffs have been temporarily paused, there’s a chance they could be re-introduced at a moment’s notice.

As Ahmad points out in a follow-up message, some companies have shifted manufacturing to other parts of Southeast Asia, which will hopefully offset the additional charges.

The worry for UK customers is that continued shifts in manufacturing locations makes it more expensive to make the console and that the costs are passed to the customer.

We’ll have to wait until the Nintendo Direct conference on April 2 to find out more.

Speaking of the Nintendo Direct conference, we now know that the event will take place at 2pm GMT UK time.

In addition to the price tag and release date, the conference should shed light on the games that will be available at launch and later this year.

Judging by the announcement trailer (above), Mario Kart 9 appears to be in development for the console at launch.

Better yet, it looks like Mario Kart 9 could support 24-person multiplayer, which should lead to some chaotic races.

It’s also pretty likely that Metroid Prime 4 will be available as a cross-gen game for the Switch and Switch 2 when it launches later this year.
