Guernsey County- This week Ohio’s Governor and Lt. Governor announced the 34 schools receiving awards through the second round of the Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program.

One of those receiving funds is Rolling Hills School District in Guernsey County. The district received funds for their Software Development Program.

“In this region the Rolling Hills Schools will be getting a $250,000 grant to help them buy machinery and equipment that will lead to great jobs,” explained Lt. Gov. Husted. “This is going to really help the students and the local businesses have the workforce they need to successful.”

With this announcement over 6,300 additional students across Ohio will have the opportunity to pursue a career in technical education.

“The Career Technical Education Equipment grant is going out to local schools to help buy modern machinery and equipment,” said Husted. “The same kind of equipment that local employers will use to help grow their businesses. We want to make sure the students are career ready, so they have to have the best most modern equipment to prepare them to be so.”

Announced in March, the first application period awarded 57 school grants totaling just under $70m to expand career and technical education access to an additional 10,545 students per year.
