Even more were likely imported in the meantime, together with tens of thousands of standalone Switch 2 Joy-Con charging grips.
The Switch 2 isn’t expected to hit the store shelves before June 2025.
Nearly 400,000 Switch 2 units have already been imported into the United States within days of the console’s announcement, according to a newly emerged report. Nintendo could hence be planning for its much-anticipated device to hit the store shelves as early as summer.
On January 16, Nintendo announced the Switch 2 with a trailer confirming its dimensions and some basic features, including backward compatibility and the ability to alternate between handheld and docked play—much like its predecessor. The trailer ended with the promise of a 2025 release and an April 2 Nintendo Direct that will reveal more details about the device.

More Nintendo Switch 2 Details Revealed by FCC Filing
According to some FCC filings, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a few features that gamers may consider utilizing once the console hits store shelves.
With less than a month to go until the first Switch 2-focused Nintendo Direct, Famiboards user LiC has now possibly uncovered additional details about the state of Nintendo’s stateside stock. Based on some newly obtained shipping manifests, LiC believes that Vietnamese component manufacturer HVBG has already imported 383,000 Switch 2 units into the United States. All of those shipments were marked as sent within six days of the Switch 2 announcement, so no later than January 22. The company’s U.S. console stock could have hence increased since then, but it’s going to be a few months before shipping data catches up with the current inventory.
In addition to the console itself, LiC has also found evidence of HVBG importing 41,598 units of a Switch 2 Joy-Con charging grip—identified by product code BEE-A-ESSKA—during the observed period. The gadget’s label seems to closely align with that of the original Switch charging grip: HAC-A-ESSKA. Although HVBG is primarily a component manufacturer, the newly emerged shipping data suggests that both the Switch 2 units and Joy-Con charging grips it exported to the U.S. in January 2025 were finished products in their retail packaging. This indicates that HVBG may also be involved in the final assembly of the upcoming console, at least as far as the U.S. market is concerned.
Switch 2 Joy-Con Charging Grip Will Reportedly Be Sold Separately
Back in December 2024, LiC reported that HVBG obtained over 800,000 units of a suspected Switch 2 system-on-chip, Nvidia’s T239. Even more possible Switch 2 parts were received by the company the following month. The new Joy-Con charging grip is planned to be sold separately, its shipping data suggests.
Nintendo has already scheduled Switch 2 hands-on preview events throughout April and May. The latest of these activities is the one in Seoul, which is planned to conclude on June 1. The console itself thus isn’t expected to be released before its hands-on preview events have run their course. The April 2 Nintendo Direct might yield the official Switch 2 release date, among other new information about the device.
